CATRENE Programme to Succeed MEDEA+ as European Nanoelectronics R&D Champion
MEDEA+, the EUREKA pan-European Programme for advanced co-operative Research and Development in Microelectronics, today announced details of the new EUREKA programme called CATRENE (Cluster for Application and Technology Research in Europe on NanoElectronics) that will take up the challenge of increasing Europe's strength in micro- and nanoelectronics after the highly successful MEDEA+ programme reaches its conclusion in 2008.

EU and EUREKA Launched Eurostars Programme for Research-Performing SMEs
Europe has taken "another step in the realisation of the European Research Area, this time to the benefit of SMEs", according to EU Science and Research Commissioner Janez Potocnik, who helped to launch EUREKA's Eurostars programme. The programme will provide financial support, from both EU and the EUREKA member country funds, to Europe's young and innovative companies, described by Mr Potocnik as the 'lifeblood' of Europe's economy.
