Max Planck Institute for Informatics and Google are Expanding their Strategic Research Partnership on AI

The Max Planck Institute for Informatics and Google deepen their strategic research partnership. With additional financial support from the U.S. IT company, the "Saarbrücken Research Center for Visual Computing, Interaction and Artificial Intelligence (VIA)", which was only launched in November 2022 at the MPI in Saarbrücken, is establishing a new research area "Vision and Language Models (VLMs)", led by Professor Bernt Schiele.

American College of Radiology Releases Joint Statement on the Use of AI Tools in Radiology

Aston University AI Project Aims to Make International Health Data Sharing Easier

Aston University is to explore the use of AI to improve sharing health data internationally.

Dr Sergei Sokolovski of the University's Aston Institute of Photonic Technologies has been awarded €317,500 to work on a European-wide project.

Called BETTER (Better real-world health data distributed analytics research platform) the spans16 academic, medical and industrial partners.

Amsterdam UMC to Use AI to Increase the Accessibility of Medical Imaging Technology

The demand for acquiring and interpreting medical images is increasing faster than number of medical experts required to operate the medical imaging device and interpret their output. This is leading to an increase in the expert workload and extending waiting lists. An Amsterdam UMC-led consortium wants to tackle this problem by making imaging technology more accessible.

New Joint Action to Reduce the Burden of Cardiovascular Disease and Diabetes

European CommissionNon-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular diseases and diabetes pose significant health challenges and are amongst the leading causes of mortality in the EU. A new Joint Action on CARdiovascular diseases and DIabetes in Europe (JACARDI), funded by the EU4Health programme with an unprecedented EUR 53 million, kicked off this week to support 21 countries to reduce the burden of these two non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

Commission Opens Calls to Invest €42 Million in Digital Skills

European CommissionToday, the European Commission opened a new set of calls for proposals under the 2023-2024 Work Programmes of the Digital Europe Programme with a focus on advanced digital skills.

The calls are available to businesses, public administrations, and other entities from the EU Member States, EEA countries, and associated countries.
