On 6 and 7 November 2026, Health Hack Saar will return for its second edition, transforming Halle 4 in Saarbrücken into a vibrant hub for innovation, collaboration and future-oriented healthcare solutions. Bringing together professionals, researchers, students and creative thinkers, the two-day hackathon aims to accelerate the development of user-centred technologies and concepts for the healthcare sector.
Organised under the umbrella of the Health.AI network, Health Hack Saar 2026 invites participants from diverse backgrounds to contribute their expertise, ideas and team spirit. The event is deliberately designed to be accessible beyond the technology community, welcoming anyone motivated to tackle real-world healthcare challenges.
Participants are expected to include healthcare professionals such as doctors, psychologists, carers and other practitioners with first-hand experience of clinical and patient care challenges. The event also seeks to attract designers, researchers and creative professionals who can contribute skills in communication, visualisation and user experience design. In addition, computer scientists, data scientists and software developers will have the opportunity to apply their technical expertise to the creation of innovative digital solutions. Students from a wide range of disciplines are likewise encouraged to participate and gain practical project experience at the beginning of the academic semester.
Working in interdisciplinary teams, participants will develop prototypes addressing real challenges emerging from ongoing research and development projects within the Health.AI network. Topics range from improving the user experience of digital support applications in paediatric oncology and designing technical support services for young people with emotional regulation disorders, to developing solutions that strengthen the involvement of general practitioners in dementia prevention research.
A distinguishing feature of Health Hack Saar 2026 is its strong emphasis on design, usability and user acceptance. The event seeks not only to generate technological innovations but also to ensure that proposed solutions meet the needs of patients, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders in practice.
