EU-US eHealth Policy Workshop

Lille Regional University Hospital (CHRU) signs the agreement with Agfa HealthCare

Agfa HealthCare, a leading provider of IT enabled clinical workflow and diagnostic imaging solutions, announces that the Lille Regional Teaching University hospital (CHRU) has chosen its IMPAX(TM) RIS solution for the first stage of its IRIS-project (Intégration du Réseau d'Images au Système d'information hospitalier), aimed at integrating the imaging network into the hospital's IT system. CHRU Lille is France's fourth largest Regional Teaching Hospital, caring for nearly 1 million patients annually.

Successful EU support: MobilAlarm device available at the market

As of May 2007, the mobile emergency device that was tested in the international project MobilAlarm will be marketed. empirica co-ordinated this project from April 2004 to August 2005. The European Commission supported MobilAlarm in the framework of its programme eTEN electronic Trans-European Networks.

Electronic health services without borders

EU Member States and Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway have adopted a common declaration on their commitment to pursue structured cooperation on cross-border electronic health services across Europe.

"By adopting today's Declaration, we seek to ensure that, in the future, electronic health services for Europe's citizens do not stop at national borders," said the German State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Health, Dr Klaus Theo Schröder.

Heilig Hartziekenhuis Mol in Belgium selects Agfa HealthCare's hospital-wide workflow solution

Agfa HealthCare, a leading provider of IT enabled clinical workflow and diagnostic imaging solutions, today announces that the Heilig Hartziekenhuis Mol hospital in Belgium has awarded it a significant contract to unify its medical workflow through the company's ORBIS(TM) solution. ORBIS is Agfa HealthCare's integrated Hospital and Clinical Information System (HIS/CIS), specifically designed to manage the entire patient-centric information flow through all hospital departments. The implementation of ORBIS is expected to start in April 2007.

Pan-European supercomputer comes a step closer to reality

European researchers will soon have access to a world-class high performance computing infrastructure, thanks to the new Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe (PACE) initiative.

PACE brings together the supercomputing centres of 15 European countries, with the goal of strengthening European science, engineering and supercomputer technologies. At a ceremony in Berlin on 17 April, the partners signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the new initiative.
