Agfa HealthCare Showcases Leading eHealth Solution at WHIT 2007

Agfa HealthCareAgfa HealthCare, a leading provider of IT-enabled clinical workflow and diagnostic imaging solutions, announced that its Bioserveur eHealth solution will be showcased during a number of lectures at the World of Health IT (WHIT), held in the Austria Center in Vienna, from October 22nd until 25th. In total some 8,382 doctors across France and its overseas departments and 700 laboratories are actively using the solution today. Bioserveur, active since 1999, is a centralized platform designed to securely administer, transmit and track laboratory results and reports. The solution does not require General Practitioners to download software, but can be accessed via a web-based platform. Facilities or practices running specific software solutions can also make effective use of the system, as it integrates over 45 General Practitioner software packages and 33 laboratory software solutions.

Developed as a direct response to an increasing demand for a solution that overarched all laboratory and General Practitioner software solutions, Bioserveur today manages over 250,000 patient files per month. All data is managed by a central communication infrastructure, which administers and communicates information to the relevant parties in the appropriate format.

Dr. Rémy Pillot, President of the Mediabio Commission in France's Rhône Alpes region, who actively makes use of the solution, states: "The Regional Commission, set up by the Association de Biologistes Libéraux (Association of Private Biology laboratories), selected Bioserveur for its ability to optimize the exchange of electronic medical data. The solution allows us to transfer information quickly, efficiently and in its entirety, thus enabling us to offer our patients and clinicians rapid feedback and effective care."

"Bioserveur is proof of point that e-Health today is a reality and that Agfa HealthCare can deliver solid solutions to meet the needs of its customers on this front," states Eric Maurincomme, Vice President e-Health at Agfa HealthCare. "Bioserveur is the perfect example of how a healthcare IT leader can develop a solution that meets and integrates the needs of primary and specialized care providers, greatly simplifying the collaboration process required in modern healthcare."

The flexibility of the Bioserveur solution allows its service to be extended to include discharge letters, radiology reports and so forth, making it a key contender for future e-Health solutions.
