EHTEL 2012 Symposium "Fact not Fiction: The Future of eHealth is Already Here"

EHTEL6 - 7 December 2012, Brussels, Belgium.
The waiting is over. We find much of what is considered future health already being implemented in many healthcare systems around Europe. Telehealth is often integrated in home care as is telemedicine integrated in clinical routines e.g. for stroke. Everyone in healthcare uses some digital communication. Yet while the tools are there, many conceptual, legal, organisational and educational challenges remain.

To be prepared for those challenges, at this 2012 Symposium, participants will jointly learn and debate about citizen-centric concepts like the Digital Health Continuum and the coproduction of health. This Symposium outlines the strategies and tactics that stakeholders can use to face today's situation, and to do this in a way that is radically different from 2-3 years ago. The current fact is the old fiction. This is also reflected in the programme layout: Four break-out sessions will provide participants with first hand reports and interactivity on lessons learned.

Day 1 will be concluded by a EHTELconnect networking agora and a Networking Dinner.

Day 2 and the symposium will be concluded by a Panel on Redesigning Health in Europe for 2020 and extended Closing Session with an EHTEL Declaration for Health 2020.

The Anniversary Symposium will be hosted by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). The EESC is a consultative body that gives representatives of Europe's socio-occupational interest groups, and others, a formal platform to express their points of views on EU issues.
