EHTEL Looks at Accomplishments and Challenges on its 10th Anniversary

The European Health Telematics Association (EHTEL)The European Health Telematics Association (EHTEL) invites Members, friends, colleagues and all eHealth enthusiasts in Europe to the Symposium "Joining for Visions of Person-centric Health" on the association's tenth anniversary. The two-day conference will be held on 21-22 October 2009, in Brussels, and will be hosted by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC).

"In the last ten years, EHTEL has witnessed eHealth becoming a powerful force in modernizing healthcare, improving quality and efficiency of care, empowering patients, and increasing patient safety," says Martin Denz, Medical Doctor and President of EHTEL. "With this Symposium, we invite all friends of EHTEL, old and new, to join us in looking at accomplishments and challenges for future-proof health and care. Let's commit with EHTEL in joining all stakeholders at the forefront of innovative change for the benefit of European health systems."

The symposium will convene between 100 and 150 policy makers, users, researchers and vendors. Keynote speakers will review the progress in eHealth over the last ten years and develop healthcare visions for the future. Presentations will highlight individual aspects of eHealth such as reality checks on telemedicine, the state of reimbursement for telehealth services, regulatory matters, and continuity of care supported by telemedicine in hospital and ambulatory care. A panel will convene protagonists of new health and eHealth trends and representatives of various eHealth stakeholder groups to debate latest trends and visions.
