Interoperability Showcase at WoHIT 2008 to Highlight the Latest Advances in Electronic Healthcare

World of Health IT 08 Conference & ExhibitionSome of the world's leading healthcare technology vendors will be demonstrating the latest cutting edge technological advances in integrated healthcare at the World of Health IT conference and exhibition, which is being held at the Bella Center, Copenhagen, November 4-6, 2008.

The demonstrations form the exhibition's Interoperability Showcase, a unique simulation of how a modern hospital can harness the power of information technology to improve the quality of care they can offer patients, reduce medical errors and save money through more efficient administration.

The Showcase will also offer an insight into how the hospital of the future will work, with all healthcare devices and systems able to 'talk' to one another not only within the hospital, but locally, regionally and even internationally. This is made possible as all devices within the Showcase comply with the internationally recognized initiative, Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE), which aims to create a common framework for all equipment within the hospital or health clinic.

Visitors to the showcase will be able to experience interactively the journey of a hypothetical car-crash victim and their medical data, from the Emergency Room of a local hospital, to referral to a regional neurological centre for CT and MRI scans and finally to the patient’s general practitioner for ongoing care. All the way, users are able to view how the medical data is exchanged seamlessly, following the patient to each institution regardless of borders or IT architecture.
