EMIS has signed two major contracts under the NHS London and Southern framework - to deliver joined-up healthcare for nearly half a million patients. The contracts will see community providers in North Somerset and South Gloucestershire switch from RiO to EMIS Web to help manage more than 50 services including dementia care, district nursing, health visiting, a community hospital and two minor injury units.

Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG; AEX: PHIA) today announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Unisensor, an innovator in the field of optical analysis of fluids for diagnostic applications in health care, as well as other industries. The Unisensor technology and team will strengthen Philips' innovation capabilities in the field of patient sample analysis such as blood testing for applications in oncology therapy monitoring. Elekta (NSE:EKTAb) and Royal Philips (NYSE:PHG, AEX:PHIA) announced today that The Christie NHS Foundation Trust (Manchester, UK), a specialist cancer center, will join a consortium whose mission is to develop the clinical value of an integrated magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) guided radiation therapy system. Such a system would, in principle, improve the practice of radiotherapy via real-time visualization of cancer targets. Philips reports Q2 sales of EUR 5.3 billion and EBITA of EUR 415 million. Healthcare comparable sales showed a 4% decline year-on-year. The EBITA margin, excluding restructuring and acquisition-related charges, declined to 10.5%, a decrease of 3.8 percentage points year-on-year. Equipment order Q2 2014 Quarterly report and Semi-annual report intake in Europe and growth geographies showed a high-single-digit increase, while North America posted a double-digit decline. 
Agfa HealthCare has won a highly competitive bid for a vendor-neutral archive (VNA) and an enterprise imaging workflow solution, for two major academic hospitals in the Netherlands: the Vrije Universiteit Medisch Centrum (VUmc) and the Academisch Medisch Centrum (AMC). This agreement is the result of a tender for the "EVA" project, a collaboration between the two hospitals for implementing a new electronic health record (EHR).
