EMIS Group to Deliver Integrated EPR for Gibraltar

EMISEMIS Group has won its first international whole healthcare economy contract - to deliver a fully integrated electronic patient record (EPR) for up to 50,000 patients in Gibraltar. The contract, worth £3.5m over the first 18 months and up to £11.25 million over the full 10 year term, is with the Gibraltar Health Authority (GHA). The project will see the implementation of cross-Group systems for use by the health authority's 900 personnel - linking patient information across primary care, secondary care, community and mental health services to provide seamless care.

Products that will be integrated to deliver the service involve: secondary care solutions from Ascribe, including a PAS and ED system for the territory's St Bernard's hospital; EMIS Web for the primary care centre; and a localised version of Patient.co.uk to provide online health services for residents.

The Group's Business Intelligence and Business Transformation teams will help ensure that the clinical benefits to patient care are delivered across all the EMIS Group solutions.

The contract announcement follows a tender process that started in November 2013 to deliver a computerised healthcare system for Gibraltar.

Minister for Health Dr John Cortes, said: “The system will bring large benefits to the provision of healthcare in Gibraltar, and it marks a new beginning for the GHA.

"It marks a huge milestone in the development of Gibraltar’s healthcare and is in keeping with the Government’s policy for e-Government."

Chris Spencer, Chief Executive of EMIS Group, said: "This is an exciting project that perfectly demonstrates the Group's connected cross-healthcare capabilities. From GP consultations to emergency treatment and specialist services, our market-leading software will enable the Gibraltar Health Authority to deliver a truly integrated service to patients."
