Google announces an addition to Google Labs - the Public Data Explorer. The purpose of the new tool, Google says on the new lab's page, "The Google Public Data Explorer makes large datasets easy to explore, visualize and communicate.

Essex County Council has reported on the success of its free Telecare Home Safety Service, which is enabling elderly people in Essex to live safely and independently in their own homes. The service, which has already benefitted over 2500 residents aged 80 and over in the last 10 months, is free to sign up to until the 31st of March 2010*.
