Agfa HealthCare has announced the inauguration of its new offices in Riyadh, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The offices were officially opened with the participation of H.R.H. Astrid of Belgium, and in the presence of dignitaries from Belgium and Saudi Arabia, including high level delegations from the Ministry of Health, H.E. Marc Vinck (Belgian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) and Guenther Schreiber (Director of Agfa HealthCare Export Region).

Bristol Clinicians to Gain Easier Access to Radiology Images

Clinicians across Bristol are set to share radiology images far more effectively and improve patient care following the implementation of the Connect and Share registry. As an extension to the Image Exchange Portal (IEP) used across every NHS trust, Connect and Share has successfully completed extensive testing at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. It is now entering the final stages of a pilot programme, before benefiting thousands of clinicians and their patients, with at least two other trusts in the region due to come on board.

European Research Project Aims at Early Diagnosis of Memory Disorders

The PredictND project, started by European research organisations, aims at developing and validating new procedures for the earlier diagnosis of memory disorders and for detecting individuals at high risk of developing memory disorders. Millions of Europeans who are at risk for experiencing any kind of memory loss would benefit from such a solution. The novel approach will be tested on 800 patients in four hospitals in Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands and Italy.

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust Selects Specialist Partner to Improve Patient Data

Recently merged Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust are working with Stalis, specialists in integrated care record solutions, to conduct a large-scale data migration and archive project ensuring only accurate, valid and complete data is fed into the trust's new electronic patient record (EPR) system for University Hospital Lewisham. The new EPR system is expected to have patient administration and clinical functionality for the trust.

The Horizon 2020 societal challenge of 'health, demographic change and wellbeing' (SC1) for the years 2014 and 2015 includes 34 topics in the 'personalising health and care' focus area call (15 in 2014 only, 17 in 2015 only and 2 which are open in both years) and 16 topics in the 'co-ordination activities' call (11 in 2014 and 5 in 2015). 8 other actions designed to support the implementation of the challenge are also included and are not subject to competitive calls for proposals. The total budget available is approximately EUR 1.21 bn.
