Lectureship in Digital Health and Care

Location: Bristol, United Kingdom
Job Type: Full-Time
Employer: University of Bristol
Closing Date: 02 January 2018
The School of Computer Science, Electrical and Electronical Engineering and Engineering Mathematics is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Digital Health and Care. In collaboration with the Anchor Society, this reflects a mutual desire to expand the School's research and educational activities around technologies that can support the UK's ageing population. The position is an open-ended contract, signalling the School's long-term commitment to this area.

Bristol is consistently ranked as one of the top places in the UK for research and teaching. The three Departments in the School host internationally-renowned research groups in Communications Systems and Networks, Cryptography, Intelligent Systems, Interaction, Microelectronics, Theory and Algorithms, Robotics and Visual Information. The School recently created a Digital Health Engineering research group, comprising 18 academic staff and over 30 PDRAs and postgrads - this post is part of a plan to expand this group and part of a strategy to build on the success of the EPSRC-funded SPHERE IRC.

The successful applicant will have an outstanding record of innovative research to complement that being carried out within the Digital Health Engineering group, with high quality publications, a national reputation and a track record of working with health and care professionals. They will have proven ability or potential to attract research funding from government and/or industrial sources. A second major requirement is the ability to deliver excellent teaching that delivers learning outcomes for students. While the teaching requirement in the first two years will largely focus on the design of new units rather than lecture delivery, the applicant will be expected to take an active role in providing high quality and innovative teaching in one of the three departments in the School, or across disciplines. Interest in developing innovative ways of integrating teaching, research and technology development will be especially welcomed.
