MEDICA 2026 16 - 19 November 2026, Düsseldorf, Germany.
The kick-off for exhibitor registration for MEDICA 2026 and COMPAMED 2026 in Düsseldorf has taken place, and the booking phase for the leading international trade fairs for the medical technology industry and its supplier sector has begun. This is based on a completely revised thematic structure for the exhibition areas. The aim is to provide even clearer technical orientation and to cluster exhibitor offerings in line with demand and trends. The allocation of registered exhibitors and thematic exhibition areas to halls will take place at the start of the approval process at the end of June 2026.

The restructuring of the thematic areas is the result of a systematic feedback process. During the trade fair in November 2025, exhibitors and visiting trade visitors were specifically asked about the thematic logic, hall layout and content synergies.

"With the content-related revision of the exhibition areas and event nomenclature, we are consistently responding to the ideas of our community and are very grateful for the input provided in the surveys," says Carmen Berger, responsible for MEDICA and COMPAMED at Messe Düsseldorf, drawing a positive interim conclusion and emphasising: "Our aim is to offer exhibitors a trade fair setup that clearly positions their expertise and enables trade visitors to intuitively find their way around relevant application scenarios."

The five new main exhibition areas at MEDICA are:

  • Clinical Diagnostics & Therapeutic Technologies (including imaging, nuclear medicine, radiotherapy, laboratory technology, medical devices, clinical equipment, orthopaedics, traumatology).
  • Digital Medicine, Data & Artificial Intelligence (including hospital IT, wearables, telemedicine, AI, cybersecurity, data platforms).
  • Integrated Care, Rehabilitation & Homecare (including homecare, consumables, infection control).
  • Healthcare Infrastructure, Manufacturing & Quality (including healthcare infrastructure & construction, regulation, market access).
  • Healthcare Systems, Education & Global Health (including education, training/simulation, healthcare services).

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the trade fair, the always well-attended specialist forums, special shows and conferences remain fundamental components of the programme. From the end of June, they will also be assigned to the exhibition halls according to their content. Examples include the MEDICA INNOVATION FORUM and the Wearable Technologies Show in the field of digital medicine, as well as the Hospital of the Future and the MEDICA TECH FORUM in the field of clinical diagnostics & therapeutic technologies. This area will also include German Hospital Day, the leading event for hospital management in German-speaking countries.

COMPAMED continues to focus on the supplier sector of the medical technology industry and will remain - as has already been confirmed - in Halls 8a and 8b. Complemented by a coordinated stage programme, the main exhibition areas here are:

  • Manufacturing, lifecycle and obsolescence management (including various types of manufacturing, manufacturing technologies and automation, supply chain management)
  • Components, modules & systems (including electronics, electrical engineering, sensor technology, mechanics and mechatronics, microfluidics, semiconductors, connectors, optics, photonics)
  • Materials, chemicals & surface technologies
  • Compliance, quality, regulation & market access
  • Software, digitalization, cyber security & future technologies

Regardless of the reorientation of content, extensive construction work is underway at the Düsseldorf exhibition centre. Hall 9 will be completely renovated and technically re-equipped in 2026 and 2027 as part of a master plan to optimise the exhibition grounds. During this period, it will not be available as an exhibition hall. At the same time, the main north entrance will be modernised. New, modern conference facilities will be built directly adjacent to Hall 9.

By the time the trade fair takes place in November 2026, it will also be apparent that Messe Düsseldorf is building its new headquarters, which is scheduled for completion by mid-2028. As a first step, one of the two exhibition towers will be demolished. The construction work will take place while the exhibition centre remains in operation and will accompany the further transformation process of MEDICA and COMPAMED in the coming years.
