The Second eHealth Edition at the Open Days 2008 Health Village

9 October 2008, Brussels, Belgium
Following the success and interest of the first OpenDays Health Village in 2007, the Information Society and Media DG and the Health and Consumers DG of the European Commission, EUREGHA and COCIR are organizing a second edition of this event.

eHealth is an important tool for making substantial health gains when combined with proper organisation and skills. eHealth has shown to be a key enabler in providing better quality and safer healthcare. It has the ability to empower citizens in managing their health and lifestyle and provides them with tools for better health education and response ability to cope with their conditions. Interoperability of health information systems such as electronic health records systems, facilitating the deployment of telemedicine services and patient safety are currently some of the priorities of European Commission and many EU regions and countries in order to support continuity of care, mobility and safety of patients. Latest developments and good practice examples from regions on these issues will be presented. The important concerns regarding data protection, health stakeholder support and creating sustainable eHealth market will also be presented by relevant stakeholders.
