Biomedical Informatics Without Borders

2-3 September, 2008
National Cancer Institute (NCI-US) and National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI-UK)
Join leaders from the United States, United Kingdom, and beyond for a two-day conference on the critical importance of information technology to biomedical research.

As new technology drives advances in basic and clinical research around the globe, international collaboration becomes critical to maximize the speed at which scientific breakthroughs reach patients. Interoperability, grid computing and changes in global policy are all vital components of ongoing efforts to break down borders between the bench and the bedside.

The U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI) cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid (caBIG™) initiative and the U.K. National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Informatics Initiative are already engaging in successful joint efforts to harness the power of these advances. This September 2-3, leaders from the United States, the United Kingdom, and beyond will gather for a conference in Bethesda, Maryland, on the critical importance of interoperable information technology to biomedical and clinical research.

The conference will highlight global grid initiatives and tools that are changing the biomedical research landscape through shared data, technologies and collaboration. There will be sessions for both technical and scientific audiences. Whether your focus is biomedical informatics development, or the use of these tools for basic and clinical research problems, you will find resources and potential collaborators to help you work more efficiently and effectively. Connect with peers from across the globe to see how grid initiatives are changing the biomedical research landscape.
