Wakefield Council has successfully delivered a large-scale telecare programme giving additional support to people with long-term conditions and their carers and helping them to remain living independently at home. Launched in 2007, the service provides telecare packages to a range of service users, including those with learning and physical disabilities, young carers and the voluntary sector. Hillingdon Council has reported on the success of its TeleCareLine and reablement services following an evaluation after 12 months, demonstrating cost savings of £4.7m and a 50% reduction in residential care home admissions.

Ekahau, the market leader in real-time locating systems (RTLS), supplied the Wi-Fi Tags for patents and staff, as well as the WLAN locating system. Carestream was named the world's second largest supplier of vendor-neutral archiving (VNA) solutions in a report just issued by InMedica, a division of IMS Research. Vendor-neutral archiving refers to standards-based platforms used in the healthcare industry to store patient data and medical images in non-proprietary formats that facilitate information access and exchange.
