Siemens Healthcare recently introduced the Acuson S2000 Automated Breast Volume Scanner (ABVS), the first multi-use ultrasound breast system that automatically
acquires volume images of the breast. Thanks to the user-independent, standardized image acquisition, the system is ideally suited for early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer with ultrasound - especially for women with dense breast tissue.

Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI) today announced the first 3D imaging results obtained with a new imaging technology called Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI). The technology, which uses the magnetic properties of iron-oxide nanoparticles injected into the bloodstream, has been used in a pre-clinical study to generate unprecedented real-time images of arterial blood flow and volumetric heart motion.
Carestream Health has installed a PACS solution into three military hospitals in Austria to aid medical examinations for soldiers, civil servants and military attaché. The solution consists of installations at Wien-Stammersdorf in Vienna, together with hospitals at Graz and Innsbruck, all of which are linked to a central PACS archive located in Vienna.
Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) today announced that its Intel® Health Guide, a care management tool designed for healthcare professionals who manage patients with chronic conditions, is being used in the NHS Lothian telehealth programme. This 400 unit programme is one of the largest of its kind in the UK and will provide in-home care for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other chronic conditions.
eHealth investment totalling £1.6 million - including funding from the NHS's major IT contractor - was announced today by Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon. Royal Philips Electronics (AEX: PHI, NYSE: PHG) has published its Annual Report for 2008. In 2008, Philips Healthcare's sales amounted to EUR 7,649 million, 15% higher than in 2007 on a nominal basis, largely thanks to the contributions from acquired companies, notably Respironics. Excluding the 14% positive impact of portfolio changes and the 5% unfavorable impact of currency effects, comparable sales grew 6%.
