Recent research from Imperial College London suggests that almost six million patients a year are turning to A&E because they cannot get an appointment with their GP. At the same time, iPLATO Research published a report concluded that 180,000 people used the iPLATO system to cancel their appointment during the 2013/14 financial year.

Royal Philips (NYSE:PHG, AEX:PHIA) today announced that it is implementing a new management structure in its Healthcare sector to improve performance and allow it to respond better to evolving customer demands in a changing health care landscape. In this new model, the Healthcare business groups will report directly to Philips Chief Executive Officer Frans van Houten, thereby removing one management layer.
Agfa HealthCare announced that az groeninge hospital in Kortrijk, Belgium has chosen to replace its existing third-party picture archiving and communication system (PACS) with a comprehensive IMPAX RIS/PACS/Reporting solution. Agfa HealthCare will provide all hardware (excluding the storage) and will manage both hardware and software, under an Agfa HealthCare System Management agreement.
