Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust Selects System C for EPR Project

System C HealthcareMid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust has selected System C to supply and implement its Medway patient administration and electronic patient record (PAS/EPR) system across the Trust.

The news follows on the heels of major wins for Medway at Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust, University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, and the Ministry of Defence.

At Mid Staffordshire, System C was selected from a final shortlist of three suppliers after a rigorous 6 month OJEU procurement process. Solutions purchased by Mid Staffordshire include the Medway PAS, the e-prescribing module Medway EPMA, the data warehouse and reporting system Medway BI, Medway Order Communications and Results Reporting, and Medway clinical proformas. System C’s portal product, Medway Connect, will be used to integrate numerous third party applications.

The contract also includes a comprehensive deployment service including data migration, localisation, integration, training, testing, floor walking and round-the-clock support.

Medway will replace the Trust's legacy iSoft PAS and clinical systems. Dr Ian Denley, senior vice president of System C, said: "We have devoted many years to building new generation .NET patient administration and clinical systems for the NHS. Being selected by Mid Staffs is a huge endorsement for our people and for the Medway PAS/EPR."

He added: "We have met dozens of Trust staff through the course of the procurement and have been really struck by their real enthusiasm for this project. We are very much looking forward to working together."

Mid Staffordshire provides healthcare at Stafford and Cannock Chase Hospital for over 300,000 residents.
