Call for Chapters - Digital Home Care

ICMCC (International Council on Medical & Care Compunetics)ICMCC (International Council on Medical & Care Compunetics) planned to publish a book on Digital Home Care by early 2009. This book will cover all aspects of Digital Homecare, e. g. technologies; clinical applications; social, ethical and legal aspects; and future trends. It is certainly one of the important and fast growing areas in the fields of medicine. Springer Verlag, one of the leading publishers in the world has agreed to publish the book.

Digital homecare can be defined as the use of information and communication technologies to enable delivery and management of health care services at home. Due to various needs digital home care is becoming part of main stream health care delivery in most of the countries:

  • Patients are being discharged from hospitals early and often require additional health care services and monitoring of their health status.
  • Preference for Point of care
  • Increase of chronic disease such diabetics
  • Increased aged population

Book Aims
This book aims to report the state-of-art developments, research and successful clinical/trial outcomes of digital homecare. It will also cover the ethical, social and legal issues related to remote homecare delivery. The book encourages high quality chapters from all aspects of digital home care.

Scopes of Interest (not limited to):

  • General Issues
    Need, standards, patient-related issues, data/information-related issues, benefits.
  • Digital Homecare for whom?
    Specific issue on various target groups, e.g. chronic patients, disabled, elderly.
  • Social, Legal and ethical aspects
    Including rural and urban issues, privacy, security.
  • Clinical and Research application
    E.g. diabetes, thrombosis, asthma, cancer, hypertension, renal.
  • Technologies - Devices and ICT
    Diagnostics, monitoring, wearables
  • Digital Homecare Experiences
    Clinicians, patients, nurses, providers
  • Digital Homecare, the Future
    Emerging Trends: Bio sensors, Medication of the future, Virtual Care service, Virtual homes, Personalized Care and Enabling Technology

Submissions
Two-stage submission:

  • First, interested researchers and practitioners are invited to submit a chapter proposal clearly stating your focused domain problems and contributions related to one of the above topics due on May 15, 2008;
  • Second, authors of accepted proposals will be notified by June 1, 2008 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter organizational guidelines. Full chapters are due by August 29, 2008. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. The book is scheduled to be published in early 2009 by Springer.

Proposal Guidelines
The proposal is expected of one page in .doc or .pdf format, composed of title, authors (name, affiliation, phone number, and e-mail address), extended abstract (background, related work, principal contributions, and so on), table of content, and contact.
