Joined-Up Health & Care Conference to Share Interoperability Stories from Lincolnshire to New York

InterSystemsInterSystems, a global leader in health information technology, will bring pioneers from across the world to Sutton Coldfield in May, to share ground-breaking stories on how joining-up health and social care is becoming a reality.

Joined-Up Health & Care, which is free to attend, will provide delegates at The Belfry on 24th May an opportunity to hear how health economies from Lincolnshire to New York are tackling the challenges of sharing information across care settings to help improve the co-ordination and delivery of sustainable healthcare systems.

Gary James, accountable officer for East Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group will share the objectives and reasons for developing the Lincolnshire Health and Care programme, which was set up to achieve the ambitious goal to transform health and social care services across the county. With potential savings of up to £4 million every year, the programme will soon be delivering benefits through a more joined-up service for the c. 730,000 people who make Lincolnshire their home.

Delegates will also hear from Healthix, a regional health organisation serving 16 million people in and around New York. Tom More, VP for innovation, will demonstrate how they have made significant advances towards joining up numerous health and care organisations delivering health services such as hospitals, behavioural health organisations, nursing homes, rehabilitation centres, laboratories, radiology centres, home care agencies, Medicaid, public health organisations, and New York's organ donor network. He will also explain how this has led to improved healthcare quality, affordability and better health outcomes for the citizens of New York.

Jo Dickson, CCIO and David Liverseidge, director integrated clinical solutions, Nuffield Health, which is embarking on their largest and most complex fully integrated healthcare system in the UK, will highlight how the organisation is moving closer to the provision of the delivery of integrated services across its 31 hospitals, 77 fitness and wellbeing centres and 212 corporate facilities, whilst also enabling the effective transfer of care of its patients with the NHS.

In addition keynote speaker Professor Sarah Harper, founder of the Oxford Institute of Ageing, will discuss how changing demographics will impact the way that care must be delivered and the role technology can play in providing improved care for communities.

Dedicated breakout sessions will cover topics ranging from interoperability, clinical decision support and analytics and a round table discussion on how to drive the five year forward view.

Mark Palmer, Country Manager at InterSystems, said: "Health and social care integration is vital to ensure the delivery of a sustainable health system. Our annual Joined-Up Health & Care conference provides an opportunity for those professionals involved in healthcare IT to meet with their peers and industry experts to discuss the technologies, strategies, and methodologies required when embarking on a health and social care integration project."
