North Cumbria Integrated Care Chooses Alcidion as Preferred EPR Supplier

Alcidion LtdThe trust, which provides hospital and community health care for approximately half a million people, has made a clinically-led decision to use Alcidion's Miya Precision platform. The modular EPR will enhance digital maturity and will support clinicians in the delivery of high quality, safe care for patients.

Intuitive design, ease of use, and interoperability with specialist systems that NCIC wishes to retain, were key benefits recognised by the trust's EPR evaluation team, which represented all services, at all levels, across the trust.

Dr Adrian Clements, executive medical director for NCIC, said: "We are pleased to have selected Alcidion as our preferred EPR provider on what is a significant advancement for North Cumbria in modernising our technological offering to provide a better service and experience for our patients, whilst also significantly increasing our digital maturity as a trust.

"Over the last few months, many of us have spent a great amount of time evaluating the various electronic patient record systems in order to reach the correct conclusion to help us implement the best possible dynamic EPR system. I feel assured and confident that selecting Alcidion will allow us to implement an EPR that enables high quality patient care, improves clinical safety and saves clinicians' valuable time."

NCIC, which already uses Alcidion's PCS patient administration system, provides services across two acute hospitals, eight community-based hospitals, eight integrated care communities, and a number of support staff locations over a large geographical footprint.

Miya Precision's full product suite will enable mobile working, streamline patient flow, support clinical decision-making processes, and will provide clinicians with real-time access to unified patient records.

Kate Quirke, Alcidion group managing director, said: "We are excited to build upon our existing relationship with NCIC as the trust's preferred EPR supplier. Having been the supplier of the trust’s patient administration system for more than eight years, we are now able to continue our relationship by bringing the full Miya Precision capabilities, alongside our partner applications, to deliver a comprehensive electronic patient record, accessible across NCIC.

"Alcidion's integrated, modular EPR solution allows NCIC to develop their existing digital footprint, protecting the trust’s existing investments and allowing healthcare professionals to realise the benefits of additional clinical capabilities, such as electronic noting and integrated observations, through integration with a number of existing systems. At a time when the health service is under enormous pressure, we see this increased speed to deliver value as a real opportunity for our customers."

NCIC is the second trust within the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care System to choose Alcidion's Miya Precision as its EPR, with other trusts in the region also using technology provided by Alcidion.

Alcidion and NCIC will now finalise what is anticipated to be a 10-year contract, before commencing deployment of Miya Precision, which is targeted to begin in early 2025.
