Lexmark Partners with NHS Shared Business Services in Managed Print Services

LexmarkLexmark, a global imaging solutions leader, today announced a partnership with NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) to enable the public sector to utilise Lexmark technology to support their aim of meeting paperless and digital targets, whilst delivering savings, efficiencies and improving patient care. The framework allows Lexmark to integrate hardware and software platforms to drive interoperability and 'paperlight' working environments within the Public Sector.

"We are really excited about our partnership with Lexmark which will help NHS organisations to deliver real and evidenced savings and efficiencies," commented Beth Loudon, Head of Procurement Development and Sourcing at NHS Shared Business Services. "Our procurement services are in the process of transforming, and innovative partnerships like this one demonstrate how combining the strengths of two great organisations can deliver powerful outcomes."

The partnership utilises the Countess of Chester NHS Foundation Trust Commercial Procurement Healthcare Content Management Framework, which includes Lexmark Managed Print Services as a key component, as well as other document workflow technology.

"As the NHS moves towards more collaboration, it is essential that partnerships such as this enable the NHS to become more adaptable and able to respond to change using new technology and innovations. We are really pleased to be working with NHS SBS to drive adoption of the Healthcare Content Management framework," stated Andrew O’Connor, Director of Commercial Procurement Services, Countess of Chester NHS Foundation Trust.

Outside of the NHS, the framework can also be used by all public sector organisations. Lexmark offers a variety of solutions for healthcare and the public sector, offering much- needed document control and efficiency.

Nick Reed, Lexmark Enterprise Sales Director, said, "Our comprehensive approach to output management means Lexmark is perfectly equipped to assist the NHS in identifying opportunities and the impact of technology on its organisation. Lexmark have more than 25 years' experience in manufacturing and managing millions of output devices, placing them in some of the most complex network environments and varied physical conditions. The Lexmark teams will work closely with NHS SBS customers to deliver results in line with financial targets and the customers’ digital roadmaps."

About NHS Shared Business Services

NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) was formed in 2005 as a unique joint venture between the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and technology experts Sopra Steria.

Our original mission - which was achieved a year ahead of schedule - was to deliver £224 million cost savings to the NHS by 2015, through providing a more efficient and cost-effective way for NHS organisations to manage their back office functions.

Today, NHS SBS employs more than 1,750 people, with a unique mix of NHS and commercial expertise, and is the largest provider of finance and accounting, procurement and employment services to the NHS in England.

We have so far unlocked over £400 million savings for the NHS and, by future proofing the services we provide, are on course to deliver total savings of £1 billion by 2020 for reinvestment in frontline patient care.
