Vertical Health Accelerator 2018

Vertical is not your typical startup accelerator, it does not cover startups pitch training, vision/mission or product-market-fit. VERTICAL expects entrepreneurs to have the fundamentals of their ventures in place. Vertical team combines the tenacity of start-up fervour with the experienced corporate world, the accelerator collaborates to create industry-first developments and pave the way forward.

Vertical Health Accelerator gathers startups focused on health, wellbeing and food tech and help them to co-create with large enterprises, combining the best of both worlds to build the better future for millions of people.

The application for Vertical spring 2018 collaboration program is now open.

3-4 month collaboration program

Startups with the best value proposition will join the Value Proposition Week on February 12-15, together with consumer tech producer Samsung, food company Fazer, the second largest hospital in the Western world - Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa, the private provider of social welfare and healthcare service for the Swedish speakers of Finland - Folkhälsan, among other partners.

After Value Proposition Week, selected participants will start 3 months hand-in-hand collaboration with decision makers from Samsung, Fazer, HUS & Folkhälsan to turn their proposals into projects. During 3 months program (March - June 2018) startups will go through four milestones:

1. Customer compliance > 2. Finalised value proposition > 3. Collaboration terms > 4. MVP delivery

Each team will get dedicated resources and 200+ world-class mentors ensure that the collaborations between start-ups and partners develop successfully.

What else? 0% equity, free of charge, part-time

Vertical is located in Helsinki at Maria 01, the heart of the Nordic startup & tech scene

Key Dates

October 10: Application opens
December 10: Application closes
December 27: Results of the phase 1 are announced. Selected teams are getting access to the phase 2.
January 8: 2nd selection phase closes
January 19: Results of the 2nd selection phase are announced. Selected team invited to the next phase.
February 12-16: Value proposition Camp & Final Selection with Samsung, Folkhälsan, Fazer & HUS
March: Spring batch 2018 collaboration program kicks-off
June: Spring batch 2018 collaboration program ends

Vertical is the first Nordic digital health, wellness,and sport startup accelerator. It runs a four-month accelerator program twice a year in Espoo, Finland. Vertical offers the teams an environment to develop and grow their business. Together with selected partners, the accelerator offers the teams a state-of-art co-working space, a training program which focuses on going from minimum viable product to minimum meaningful product, organizing of financing, legal assistance, and connections within marketing and international product distribution. At the end of the program Vertical will invest up to 150 000 euros in the most promising teams.
