Stalis Enables Successful Data Migration of over 1,600,000 Records to Cerner Millennium at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust

StalisRecently merged Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust contracted Stalis, specialists in integrated care record solutions, to conduct the large-scale data migration and archive project ensuring only accurate, valid and complete data was fed into the trust's new electronic patient record (EPR) system for University Hospital Lewisham, which went live with Cerner Millennium at the end of May.

Based on Stalis' robust and secure CareXML® platform the migration project involved the transformation and archiving of approximately 950,000 patient records, 530,000 historic and future outpatient appointments, and 130,000 inpatient histories into a new consolidated EPR from Lewisham's previous patient administration system. This was followed by the archiving of trust maternity and theatre data from the legacy systems.

The following statistics were achieved at the go live:
Choose & Book 100%
Future Appointments 100%
In Patient Episode 100%
In Patient Waiting List 100%
Master Patient index 100%
Out Patient Episode 100%
Out Patient Waiting list 100%

The CareXML® platform supports heath informatics professionals through the highly complex process of extracting, cleansing and exporting data from any healthcare application onto the new live system whilst eliminating any duplicate records.

Elisa Steele, Director of IT for Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust said: "We recognised that the data migration was an integral part of our IT strategy in helping us to reduce data duplication within the local healthcare economy and improving access to patient records. Our experience of Stalis' expertise in this area was very positive; for the length of the project they delivered on time and to a high standard, supporting our Data Migration work stream, data quality and information team very well. Stalis staff worked tirelessly to ensure a seamless migration, providing workshops and training to our staff, and maintaining a professional presence at all times. Their involvement in this project was a very worthwhile investment. Overall this was a text book data migration with superb partnership working between Stalis, the Trust and Cerner."

Andrew Meiner, Managing Director at Stalis said: "We are delighted to have delivered these very positive results project with Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, and to have demonstrated our leadership in data migration, cleansing and integration. The statistics follow similar excellent results achieved with other previous migration projects. We have more than achieved our core objective for this project; ensuring good quality data is available to support healthcare professionals in their day-to-day work as they make decisions about how to deliver the best care for patients. Our extensive expertise and experience in healthcare means we provide NHS organisations with confidence that their staff are working from the best and most complete information, whether they are clinicians making decisions about patient care, managers monitoring performance against contracts, or service improvement managers investing in reorganisation and change management."
