Transinsight Wins Public Tender for the National Academy of Sciences - Leopoldina for Creating a Semantic Search Engine on Demographic Change

TransinsightSocial consequences associated with demographic change are difficult to predict, but at the same time highly important. Predictions about the development of a predominately ageing society require a reliable database from which predictions can be calculated. The heterogeneous research landscape on demographic change complicates the collection and homogenisation of research considerably. Constant change also makes profound scientific analysis enormously difficult to predict.

By agreeing to inform the German government about possible future developments, Transinsight's newest project the "Research-Atlas on demographic change" was brought to life. Particular attention has been paid to interdisciplinary aspects and relevance of information, both perfectly suited to an intelligent semantic software system. Automatic daily Internet monitoring of more than 40 different databases and linking this information by semantic knowledge networks will bring deep insights into the field of demographic analysis. "Constant intelligent (semantic) monitoring of the research landscape on demographic change is an important prerequisite to adequately meet social challenges," said Prof. Dr. Michael Schroeder, Technical University of Dresden.

One such brain-like software solution has been developed by the Transinsight GmbH in cooperation with the TU Dresden for more than 10 years and is the ideal base for such a monitoring system. "Transinsight is proud to have won such a well-known institution like the German Academy of Sciences - Leopoldina - in a public tender as customer. This shows that our solutions are not only technically superior to those of competitors, but also that we are competitively priced. Congratulations to our team!" said Dr. Michael R. Alvers, co-founder and CEO of Transinsight.

About Leopoldina
Founded in 1652, the Leopoldina is one of the oldest academies of science in the world. It is dedicated to the advancement of science for the benefit of humankind and to the goal of shaping a better future. With some 1,500 members, the Leopoldina brings together outstanding scientists from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and many other countries.

The Leopoldina was appointed as the German National Academy of Sciences in 2008. In this capacity, it represents the German scientific community in international committees and speaks out on social and political questions, providing a nonpartisan, factual framework for discussion. Under the auspices of the Leopoldina, interdisciplinary groups of experts publish policy-guiding statements on issues of current interest. The Leopoldina also releases joint statements with other German, European and international academies. It promotes scientific and public debate, supports young scientists, confers awards for scientific achievements, conducts research projects, and campaigns for the human rights of persecuted scientists.
