HIMSS Europe Signs a Collaboration Contract with AVISA

HIMSS EuropeHIMSS Europe and AVISA (the Valencia Association of Health Informatics) have signed a collaboration agreement with which HIMSS reaffirms its strong commitment to Spain, being the leading country in Europe in terms of its adoption and use of electronic medical records.

The signing of the contract took place last weekend within the framework of the fifth edition of AVISA Technical Day, which is celebrated in Alicante and carries the motto "The time for Health Informatics". Cayetano Hernández Marín, president of AVISA and Manuel Vallina, HIMSS senior advisor in Spain, were present at the signing.

According to Manuel Vallina, "this collaboration reflects HIMSS Europe's intentions of being present in the Spanish market, which is of great importance to the organization. We achieve this through collaborating with benchmark institutions in the sector and the organization of training and outreach events. In this case, we formalized the collaboration with AVISA and strengthened ties with this important association that allows us to reach IT professionals in the healthcare information technologies sector."

AVISA, created in 2004 with more than 180 associates, is a renowned institution both in the public and private sector of the Community of Valencia. Its mission is summarized in three points: to be an opinion channel for the promotion and defense of the use of healthcare information systems and technologies, to encourage cooperative relationships with health informatics and also to organize and promote training, study and cultural activities throughout the health informatics community.

According to its president, Cayetano M. Hernández, who is also an informatics professional at the Hospital Universitari i Politècnic La Fe of Valencia, "nowadays we have agreements signed with different institutions such as the Official College of Informatics Engineers of Valencia, ISACA, PMI and with the National Association of Informatics Appraisers and Judicial Experts (ANTPJI). We are delighted to be able to sign this collaboration agreement with HIMSS Europe as we believe this provides our association with a greater degree of professionalism."
