Asklepios Signs Master Agreement with medavis

medavis GmbHAsklepios, Germany's largest chain of private clinics and medavis GmbH, a leading provider of medical information systems, have signed a framework contract to equip six Asklepios clinics in Hamburg with medavis' radiology information system. The conversion to medavis RIS as the central radiology information system for the Hamburg clinics will be carried out in the course of the “OneIT“ project for the standardisation of the entire IT infrastructure.

During a detailed selection process, the Asklepios Group evaluated several different vendor's systems, before finally deciding on the Karlsruhe-based software house's medavis RIS. "The introduction of a central information system for radiology in Hamburg points the way for the entire Asklepios Group. Besides the integration capabilities, the flexible workflow control and user friendliness particularly recommend medavis", states Peter Oberreuter, Spokesperson of Asklepios Kliniken Hamburg GmbH.

Among the clinics involved is the Asklepios Klinik Barmbek, which functions as the international reference centre for the Asklepios Future Hospital (AFH) programme. Within the scope of the AFH programme, Asklepios, in cooperation with various different partners, is developing and testing innovative technical solutions for the hospitals of tomorrow. The programme's main objective is the consistent deployment of innovative technologies in one hospital, to be followed, at a later date, by an expansion to all the Asklepios clinics.

The medavis RIS will replace the RIS systems from a number of sources, which were previously in use in the individual clinics. The connection to the SAP i.s.h. med hospital information system and the Philips PACS will create a cross-hospital solution, providing key improvements in the transfer of data between the various clinic's radiology departments. Peter Oberreuter comments: "Our declared goal is the homogenisation of our IT landscape. For this purpose, we need a modern and flexible information system for our radiology, which is capable of fulfilling the requirements of networked operations at different locations. In this respect, we found the medavis RIS totally and entirely convincing."

The introduction of medavis RIS is scheduled to start within the next month, at the Asklepios clinic Hamburg-Altona. The further clinics Hamburg-Nord, Barmbek, Harburg, Wandsbek and St. Georg will subsequently be converted to medavis RIS over a period of 18 months.
