Live webcast from the Erlangen University Hospital

SIEMENSA new, technologically innovative CT system, the SOMATOM Definition AS from Siemens Medical Solutions, is being put into operation for the first time worldwide in the surgical trauma center at the Erlangen University Hospital. Seriously injured patients can be comprehensively examined, and life-saving treatment is initiated faster than ever before.

The new emergency concept shows the enormous level of trust the hospital places in the strengths of the new Siemens scanner. With its SOMATOM Definition AS, Siemens has developed a CT system that adapts to all medical requirements, it adapts to any patient and to any clinical questions. This is the reason for the "AS" in its name: an abbreviation for Adaptive Scanner.

Regardless of the clinical question, whether children, obese patients, stroke, non-invasive cardiac imaging, emergency cases, or standard examinations - the new system turns highly complex examinations into an easy routine.

In addition, the SOMATOM Definition AS actively manages dose in 100% of all exams. Its Active Dose Shield dynamically removes clinically irrelevant dose for all exams and patients.

The adaptive system not only enables invaluable functional information of whole organs, to be measured, but also supports minimally invasive procedures such as the removal of tissue samples with three-dimensional images, providing the physician with precise orientation during the intervention.

Werner Bautz, M.D., Director of the Institute for Radiology and Medical Director of the University Hospital Erlangen, Michael Lell, M.D., and the physicians of the Institute for Radiology in cooperation with Siemens AG, would like to introduce you to the clinical benefits and technical basics of the new system.

The event will take place:
