The World of Health IT Conference & ExhibitionSome 2000 members of the healthcare delivery community from 64 countries gathered in Vienna 22-25 October 2007 for the second edition of The World of Health IT Conference & Exhibition. The main organisers of this event include the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), the European Commission (EC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

This year's event provided a timely platform for stakeholders be they end users, providers, buyers, policy makers, and IT professionals to bring life to previous R&D and dialogues.

The centrally recurring themes from speakers addressed the supplementary strategies and processes needed to ensure optimized implementation of HIT strategies in healthcare systems. These particularly included organisational change strategies and IT solutions.

Conference highlights included keynote addresses from Dr Fatma Abdula – Chief Strategy Officer Dubai Healthcare City who spoke poignantly about the challenges faced in the implementation of a full ehealth system for Dubai. Richard Granger and Richard Alvarez provided the closing keynote addresses whilst elsewhere in the conference, Ilias Iakovidis from the European Commission's DG Information Society, implored audiences, to stop talking and take action.

The exhibition floor featured 50 top companies from around the region ranging from Oracle Healthcare, Maccabi, Agfa Healthcare, Intersystems and Clinical Solutions as sponsors to a number of the key trade and professional associations partnering with the event.
