The International Workshop on Security and Privacy in e-Health (WSPE'08)

March 4th – 7th, 2008
In conjunction with The Third International Conference on Availability, Reliability and Security - ARES 2008
Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Barcelona, Spain
As aging of the population and rising medical costs put more pressure on health and social care systems, improving the efficiency in the e-Health sector becomes increasingly important. As highly sensitive patient information is exchanged and stored within such systems, legitimate concerns about the privacy of the stored data emerge since such systems provide a promising goal for attackers. The lack of existing approaches that provide a sufficient level of security raise the need for systems that guarantee data privacy and keep the access to health data under strict control of the patient.

This workshop aims to address recent research around methods, concepts, models and technologies for security and dependability issues in e-Health to bring together experts from both academia and industry for the exchange of ideas and discussion on future challenges on these issues.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Access Control
  • Authorization and Authentication
  • Business Process Optimization in Health-Care
  • Cryptography
  • Data Security and Data Protection
  • E-Health Security
  • Electronic Health Record
  • E-Prescription
  • Identity Management
  • Monitoring and Auditing
  • Standards, Guidelines, Exchange Formats and Certification
  • Privacy Enhancement Techniques
  • Pseudonymization
  • Trust Management
