conhIT Becomes DMEA - A New Name that Signals the Transition from an Industry Meeting Place to the Platform for Digital Healthcare

DMEA - Connecting Digital Health9 - 11 April 2019, Berlin, Germany.
After 11 years conhIT - Connecting Healthcare IT, Europe's leading health IT event for decision-makers in the health industry, healthcare policymaking and science, is to receive a new name: DMEA. The new heading reflects a major evolution in the strategy and content of the conhIT trade fair and congress concept.

Digitalisation in Healthcare has Arrived

conhIT was introduced in order to drive digitalisation in healthcare forward. As a result of this mission IT has become a cornerstone of efficient and sustainable healthcare. In order to remain a driving force and pioneer, in the future DMEA will mirror the entire digital supply chain including every process along the way. Step by step, it will be expanded into a platform that will promote a constructive and informative debate on IT in every area of the supply chain. DMEA’s declared aim is to promote digital networking across faculties and sectors as well as to address new audiences. The tried and tested combination of a trade fair, academy and congress and numerous interactive events will remain. Individual areas will be developed to provide an even bigger forum for innovative ideas and a joint discourse.

"conhIT was instrumental in shaping a new perspective. IT is no longer regarded as being separate from healthcare processes but as a key part of them. Where once discussion focused on whether digitalisation should take place, today it is about its pace and positive applications. For digital healthcare to be successful it must cover every sector. That is why DMEA sees itself as an information event and meeting place for all decision-makers involved in influencing digital processes in the healthcare system," is how Jens Naumann, chairman of the board of the German Association of Health IT Vendors (bvitg), describes the new direction DMEA plans to take.

DMEA - Connecting Digital Health

In order for DMEA to remain attractive for regular exhibitors, newcomers and trade visitors alike, and with digital change progressing at such a pace, the German Association of Health IT Vendors (bvitg), the holder of the event, is putting together a new concept for the organisation and content of DMEA with its partners. These are the German Medical Informatics Professional Association (BVMI), the German Association for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology (GMDS), the German Association of Hospital IT Managers (KH-IT) and the Chief Information Officers of University Hospitals (CIO-UK). The successful partnership with associations representing software product users and scientific organisations is set to continue even more closely. The event will remain at its current venue and continue to be organised by the trusted partner Messe Berlin.

"As digitalisation progresses the entire healthcare system will change and so will our audience. That is why, looking back on the positive trend among exhibitors and trade visitors at conhIT, this is the ideal moment to take the event a step further. The industry meeting place that was conhIT will become DMEA, the platform for digital healthcare," is how Jens Heithecker, executive vice president of the Messe Berlin Group, explained the decision to transform conhIT.

Digital Medical Expertise & Applications

The digital transformation is increasingly impacting on the nursing sector, resident practitioners, and hospital doctors and companies are looking to enter the healthcare sector with innovative products and services. A wide range of events at DMEA will address these audiences in even more individual ways. At the same time sufficient room will be given to topical subjects such as artificial intelligence and blockchains as well as to congress and networking events which will promote a discourse within the industry. All kinds of innovative events for newcomers will round off DMEA.

DMEA will take place on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds from 9 to 11 April 2019. Numerous exhibitors, both newcomers and regulars including many Gold Partners, have already agreed to attend.

About DMEA

DMEA is the successor to conhIT - Connecting Healthcare IT and represents a strategic evolution of that concept. Its aim is to mirror the entire digital supply chain including every process along the way. Step by step DMEA will expand into a platform representing every digital field of interest to all players in the healthcare system, both now and in the future. DMEA targets decision-makers in every healthcare sector - hospital managers, IT heads, doctors, nurses, healthcare policymakers and experts in science and research. As an integrated event combining a trade fair, congress, academy and networking events it gives participants an opportunity to find out about the latest digital healthcare developments and products, establish industry contacts and gain high-level qualifications.

DMEA is held by the German Association of Healthcare IT Vendors (bvitg) and organised by Messe Berlin. The following industry associations also contribute to the event: the German Association of Healthcare IT Vendors (bvitg), the German Association for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology (GMDS), the German Medical Informatics Professional Association (BVMI). The National Association of Hospital IT Managers (KH-IT) and the Chief Information Officers of University Hospitals (CIO-UK) contribute to the subject matter.
