The company has been active within the Middle East for more than 25 years and formed its CSC Arabia division in 2003.

Arab Health 2011 is providing the ideal opportunity to showcase its advanced range of solutions to some of the region's most prominent healthcare industry leaders and influencers. Each of the innovative CSC solutions being demonstrated is capable of making a major contribution to the rapidly developing Middle East healthcare sector.

Dr Harald Deutsch, vice president CSC Healthcare EMEA, said: "The example being set by many Middle Eastern countries in the forward-thinking and imaginative application of healthcare IT is quite inspirational, and we want to be part of this."

"CSC is transforming healthcare with better information for better decisions. By working with health ministries, providers, and payers, we are driving reform to deliver more efficient and cost effective care to save lives and money," Dr Deutsch continued. "Arab Health is a great opportunity to share best practice and we aim to show how the cultural, political, organisational and technical challenges of healthcare transformation can be overcome to achieve improved service delivery in all countries and regions throughout the Middle East."

CSC has extensive experience in the delivery of projects of all sizes, including the US commercial and public sectors and for nationwide healthcare systems in Europe. The range of expertise amongst its 94,000 employees means CSC can provide the ideal team to suit the needs of each healthcare client.

CSC will be showcasing a number of innovative solutions at Arab Health 2011, including:

  • Hospital in a Box
A turnkey enterprise solution that includes everything from back office, clinical, departmental and patient self-care systems run on an integrated infrastructure linking patients and clinicians with a single electronic record. Effectively, it provides an out-of-the-box set of capabilities that can be quickly deployed to help create a truly digitised hospital facility. It's a total solution which is ideal for new hospital builds, or for existing institutions needing to modernise or gain traction in the increasingly competitive healthcare market.
  • Patient in your Pocket (PIYP)
This solution is transforming how healthcare professionals on the move access and update patient information. PIYP enables doctors, community nurses, midwives and health visitors to spend more time on front-line care using the latest and most relevant clinical information. Users receive a schedule of appointments on their BlackBerry® smartphone and can retrieve up-to-date patient information and enter new data directly, either by dictating notes or filling in forms using a digital pen. Patient confidentiality is continually protected through a smartcard log-on and strong data encryption.
  • Patient Self-Care - Telemedicine Solution
This solution revolutionises the care of patients with long-term and chronic conditions as well as cutting costs. It empowers patients by providing them with the ability to monitor themselves using integrated medical devices and to share the results, as well as communicate through video conferencing with their care provider anywhere, anytime via 3G or fixed line broadband connection. In this way clinicians can respond more quickly and effectively to any changes, no longer having to rely on periodic face-to-face consultations. This can reduce the need for re-admission or hospitalisation as problems are dealt with before they become serious.
  • Electronic Prescription Service
This replaces slow and error-prone manual prescription systems with one that is accurate, integrated and interoperable. The ePrescription system cuts errors, enhances the management of medication and increases safety. It provides all healthcare, partners including both clinicians and pharmacists, with a single view of a patient's medication profile eliminating administration normally associated with managing manual prescriptions, improving efficiency and auditing processes.
  • OmniLocation
Being able to track patients can be important for their safety. It can be just as important to know where other vital assets and equipments are without having to chase for information around the entire hospital. OmniLocation is a wireless and RFID tracking system which allows the user to track people or objects in near real-time and within a margin of just three metres.
  • Electronic Patient Folder
Paper records are expensive and time-consuming to maintain. CSC's Electronic Patient Folder (ePF) allows customers to digitise their records, providing faster access to patient information. It radically cuts the time, space and cost of maintaining manual records. ePF delivers immediate and significant, measurable benefits and supports transition to an electronic patient records system.
