Rode Kruis Ziekenhuis, in Beverwijk, Netherlands, Becomes Second in Country to Implement Enterprise Imaging for Radiology

Agfa HealthCareAgfa HealthCare announces today that the Rode Kruis Ziekenhuis (RKZ) hospital in Beverwijk, the Netherlands, has switched from IMPAX to Enterprise Imaging for Radiology. This solution offers a single, completely unified imaging platform providing image management, reporting, advanced image processing and integration of clinical information. The agreement also includes the XERO zero footprint image viewer. The system has gone live on 8 April 2016.

Care-centric workflow
The 275-bed RKZ hospital admits over 13,500 patients per year and employs around 1250 staff in which the radiology department accounts for seven radiologists. A satisfied user of IMPAX, the hospital decided to upgrade to Enterprise Imaging for Radiology to assure that it is well-prepared for the future.

The Enterprise Imaging for Radiology platform offers a care-centric workflow that is standards-based, improves interoperability and enables a comprehensive patient imaging health record across departments within a single facility or between multiple facilities. It offers clinicians a single point of access to patient information from different sources, allowing them to quickly access a patient's complete file, generate a report and distribute it, all during one session, even from a remote location. The platform will be used in combination with the hospital''s third-party electronic patient record.

Integrated access to full patient data
At RKZ, Enterprise Imaging for Radiology will offer a desktop integration with the hospital information system (HIS), radiology information system (RIS) and speech recognition on the radiologists' diagnostic workstations. These integrated systems make the full patient file available to the radiologist when reporting, enabling greater efficiency.

The agreement also includes the XERO viewer, which enables enterprise-wide imaging data viewing, inside and outside the hospital. Secure access to DICOM and non-DICOM images from different departments and multiple sources speeds up and enhances image retrieval by care providers, thereby increasing productivity and patient and staff satisfaction. Clinical and specialty measurement tools enhance the clinical depth. XERO can be started up from within the HIS or from common internet browsers, offering flexibility for users.

An extendable and modular platform
"We chose the Enterprise Imaging for Radiology platform because it can provide us with the latest Agfa HealthCare Enterprise Imaging software updates and a solid environment, in a modular solution that can expand in the future. It is a single platform that includes options to expand with other functionalities and departments," comments Robert Nanne, Manager Radiology / Organizational Manager at Rode Kruis Ziekenhuis. "But Agfa HealthCare not only offered us a high-performance system, but also excellent project management for implementing this new system. We were very pleased with the previous imaging management system from Agfa HealthCare, and we are certain that the new system will offer innovations and advantages that will be felt by our caregivers and patients alike."

"We are very proud to extend our successful relationship with Rode Kruis Ziekenhuis by implementing the second Enterprise Imaging for Radiology platform in the Netherlands," says Rene Stenvert, Sales Director for Agfa HealthCare Netherlands. "This step into the next generation will help prepare the hospital for the future of patient care and enterprise imaging."
