World of Health IT Conference Is Huge Hit with EMEA Region

Close to 2,000 people attended the first World of Health IT Conference and Exhibition held in Geneva, Switzerland, from Oct. 10-13. The event drew speakers, attendees and exhibitors from across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) including places as diverse as Andorra and Azerbaijan, Iceland and Israel and Saudi Arabia and Serbia-Montenegro. The main organizers of this event include the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), the European Commission (EC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

Information Society and Health: Linking European Policies

This brochure has been produced by Information Society Policy Link (ISPL), an initiative of DG Information Society and Media that aims to link information society projects with European policy-makers across a wide range of policy domains.

More than 3000 projects from information society programmes are being analysed, identifying a wealth of concrete results that support EU policies across all of the principal policy areas. By exchanging information and experiences, the Information Society Policy Link initiative helps to leverage the benefits of these activities for European policies.

Commission adopts EIT proposal in time for Lahti summit

Antwerp University Hospital works with IBM and I.R.I.S. Solutions

The Antwerp University Hospital (UZA Belgium) has contracted IBM's long-term business partner I.R.I.S. along with IBM (NYSE: IBM) to deliver several backbone solutions for its electronic patient record (EPR). The project, which will include the digitization of the hospital's extensive medical archive, will increase process efficiency at the hospital's Medical Information department.
