Digital Homecare, as defined in the first ICMCC book on the subject, is "a collection of services to deliver, maintain and improve care in the home environment using the latest ICT technology and devices", covering aspects like assistive technology, telemedicine, mhealth, rehabilitation, aimed at elderly, chronic patients and/or handicapped people with the objective of improving efficiency and quality of care and life.

Cloud services provided over grid technology are helping to treat cancer patients, thanks to an enormous effort by European researchers working closely with industry. Cancer is Europe's second largest killer and one of the most difficult diseases to treat.
Six institutions from Canada, the Czech Republic, Austria, France and Italy have now become official partners of the Infrafrontier consortium. With the participation of Canada, the consortium will be extended beyond Europe. The aim is to create a multinational research infrastructure for the phenotyping and archiving of mouse models of human diseases.

Much has been accomplished already: the market has become more competitive, generating investment, innovation and growth in all 27 EU Member States.
