Regions - The Key-players in delivering eHealth: What can the "e" do for your region?

This event will take place in Brussels, 11 May 2007, and will be delivered by the eHealth Workgroup of the IANIS+ Project.

The symposium is organised by the Research Unit on Biomedical Informatics (GRIB) and the European Networks of Excellence INFOBIOMED and SEMANTIC MINING. It aims to serve as a forum to present the results obtained and discuss the current hot topics in Biomedical Informatics.

This one-day workshop will focus on interoperability, certification and improving patient safety and healthcare quality through IT. Panelists and robust open discussions will focus on those areas where Transatlantic collaboration could prove mutually beneficial. High-level speakers from EU institutions and Member State governments, the US government, academia and industry will address issues related to standardization, best practices & lessons learned, and policy harmonization. Ample discussion time will be provided during the Q&A sessions.

This event is organised by the Trans Atlantic Business Dialogue (TABD) and is supported by the EU Commission and the US Department of Commerce. The underlying factors creating common challenges in Healthcare on both sides of the Atlantic range from demographics to pandemics or chronical diseases, to name but a few.

A conference entitled "European Researchers of Tomorrow - Crossing the Borders of Academia and Industry" will be held in Stuttgart, Germany, from 13 to 15 May 2007.

The aim of the conference is to highlight the importance of the promotion of young researchers for Europe and to effectively document and increase Europe's attractiveness for scientific talent. The focus will be on cooperation between science and industry.
