System C has announced the launch of a new product which allows healthcare providers to ensure they are in control of the flow of sensitive personal information and patient health records. Called IGFlow, the new product will be showcased for the first time this week at Smart Healthcare (Earls Court, June 9th/10th) and the NHS Confederation annual conference (Liverpool ACC, June 10th-12th).

The Örebro County Council and the Municipality of Örebro have started to use the Swedish National Patient Summary solution (known as NPÖ), supplied by Tieto. The national roll-out plan is being worked on in parallel with further development and evaluation of the NPÖ service.

The Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau and Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI) have signed a 10-year agreement to manage the imaging technology needs of the hospital's imaging diagnostics department. Philips will be responsible for providing and managing the hospital's medical imaging capabilities for the duration of the contract period at a fixed monthly fee.

Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq "MSFT") has signed an agreement with Merck & Co. Inc. to acquire certain assets of Rosetta Biosoftware, a business unit of Rosetta Inpharmatics LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Merck & Co. Inc. The deal allows Microsoft to incorporate genetic, genomic, metabolomic and proteomics data management software into the Microsoft Amalga Life Sciences platform for enhanced translational research capabilities.
