This special issue reflects the diversity of people involved in developing eHealth and integrating it to healthcare policies. Mobilising all these people and coordinating their actions, at a regional, national and European level, is essential in order for eHealth to realise its potential. The introduction of ITCs in the healthcare field is giving rise to many expectations and questions which will be discussed in this issue.
This year's conference, from June 29th until July 1st in Berlin, will focus on how business models and practical applications may be developed from the experiences gained with pilot projects in Grid technology so far. Participants will see presentations on key technologies, Grid applications, socio-economic aspects and the future of Grid technology in medicine.
The Örebro County Council and the Municipality of Örebro have started to use the Swedish National Patient Summary solution (known as NPÖ), supplied by Tieto. The national roll-out plan is being worked on in parallel with further development and evaluation of the NPÖ service.
