Tieto Supplies Elderly Care Solution to Trelleborg Municipality

TietoTrelleborg is set to be the latest in a long line of local authorities in the south of Sweden to roll out Tieto's Procapita solution to provide IT support for elderly care. The agreement affects 1,250 employees and around 3,700 customers.

"We're now developing a structure of super-users, and anticipate that the solution will be fully implemented by the end of the year," says Ann-Sofie Johansson, Development Secretary of Trelleborg Municipality's Social Welfare Department and project manager for the Procapita roll-out.

A high score in respect of the demands made by the requirements specification and the competitive price were the principal reasons why Trelleborg chose to go with Tieto's solution. Johansson also sees major advantages in terms of new functionality, including assistive devices management and the opportunity to use the new solution to communicate with local residents via the municipality's public website. The aim is to enable customers to request home care services online.

Tieto currently has agreements in place with 18 municipalities in the Skåne region of Sweden. For Trelleborg Municipality, joining a network of local authorities in the region that is already using Tieto's solution is seen as a real advantage.

"We've already been in touch with neighbouring Svedala Municipality," says Johansson.

"We're delighted to be further strengthening our presence in Skåne," says Jahn Sundin, Business Manager for Procapita. "Trelleborg had already used Tieto as its Family Care solution provider, which may also have had a bearing on their decision."
