Digital Health Consultancy Invests in Cyber Security Assurance

Populo ConsultingDigital health consultancy Populo Consulting has secured Cyber Essentials Plus certification, in a move that demonstrates its commitment to operating to the same high standards as its NHS clients.

Cyber Essentials Plus is a scheme developed by the National Cyber Security Centre, which builds on the Cyber Essentials programme.

This allows organisations to self-certify they have taken basic steps to secure their internet connection, devices and data from cyber-attack. Cyber Essentials Plus goes further and requires, testing and verification by independent auditors from an accredited organisation, in this case Xyone Cyber Security.

Jonah Aburrow-Jones, managing director of Populo, said: "Cyber Essentials Plus is like a security MOT and it demonstrates our commitment to putting standards and adherence to standards at the heart of what we do.

"We understand the expectations that are being placed on health and care organisations to keep critical systems and sensitive data safe and secure.

"Now, they can be assured that their values will be reflected in our work, because we take cyber security as seriously as they do."

Populo's investment in Cyber Essentials Plus comes as the company embarkson a period of rapid expansion. Aburrow-Jones, a consultant with almost twenty-years' experience in healthcare IT, was named as managing director earlier this summer.

The consultancy has also appointed a new head of client services, Gary Davies, who previously worked for Allscripts. He brings a wealth of experience which can be shared for the benefit of Populo's healthcare provider organisation clients.

It has additionally opened a new London office and refreshed its branding and introduced new services, to underscore its commitment to 'Caring for Digital Health'.

Taken together, the developments will enable Populo to support more organisations looking to improve their digital agility and to deploy the technology they will need to engage with the new era of integrated care and digital delivery for patients.

Aburrow-Jones said: "Cyber-security threads through the work we do, whether that’s supporting the refresh of a trust network, or validating and restoring records, or advising on an integration project to support new models of care.

"Naturally, our clients want to examine our cyber security credentials; and now we have secured Cyber Essentials Plus certification, they can be confidentthat our IT and our processes are secured against cyber-attack and are a safe partner to work with."

In addition to its Cyber Essentials Plus certification, Populo has secured a place on the latest G-Cloud framework, G-Cloud 10, and the Digital and Outcomes Specialist 3 (DOS3) framework.

The first makes it easier for public sector organisations to buy cloud services, while the second gives them rapid access to agile project management and software development skills.
