Technology Enhanced Learning – Catalyst for Change and Innovation
4-5 July 2006

The event is held during the opening week of Finland’s EU Presidency in July 2006. The conference aims at bringing experts from the fields of technology, education and training, research, industry and governmental organisations together to discuss the European vision on the role of technology in promoting lifelong learning, innovation and desirable change.

The programme of the 2nd Euroscience Open Forum (ESOF2006) is now available online at www.esof2006.org. Participants can select from over 70 seminars, symposia and workshops taking place during July 15th-19th 2006 at the Forum am Deutschen Museum and the Deutsches Museum in Munich, Germany. Registration is possible through the official ESOF2006 website as well as on site during the conference.

A pan-European drive to use information and communication technologies to help people to overcome economic, social, educational, territorial or disability-related disadvantages was endorsed by ministers of 34 European countries in Riga (Latvia) yesterday. "e-Inclusion" targets include halving the gap in internet usage by groups at risk of exclusion, boosting broadband coverage in Europe to at least 90%, and making all public web sites accessible by 2010.

The event will take place on 13th of July, from 13:30 until 17:30, in the room UC5, University of Linz, Linz, Austria during the 10th International Conference on Computers Helping People with Special Needs (ICCHP).

Participation in the brokerage event is free of charge. Participants are, however requested to register for the ICCHP 2006 CONFERENCE either for the day only or for the full conference duration (see link above). An exception is made for NMS and ACC participants that are interested in the EPIST brokerage only; these participants do not need to register for the ICCHP 2006 CONFERENCE.

The European Commission, together with the Latvian Government and the Austrian Presidency of the EU, is organising this high-level conference on the theme "ICT for an inclusive society". Practitioners, representatives of civil society, representative groups and industry, and Ministers from all EU Member States will meet to set the eInclusion policy agenda for the coming years.

From Strategies to Applications
17 - 19 April 2007 in Berlin

The aim of "eHealth Europe 2007 - From Strategies to Applications" is to present the myriad telematics activities carried out by the Member States of the EU, with focus on the benefits to be gained by their application. The objective is to identify solutions for cross-border, interoperable processes and Europe-wide electronic services and to present and discuss the preparatory activities conducted by our European partners in this field.

eHealth for Europe: Resolving to work together
The recently agreed World Health Assembly eHealth Resolution (WHA58/28) is testament to the growing commitment of governments from around the globe to the huge range of possibilities offered by eHealth. These opportunities are on offer for actors across the healthcare spectrum, encompassing citizens, patients, healthcare professionals, care providers and purchasers, governments and industry. eHealth also provides a variety of tools which can be of use for prevention and health information purposes.
