Carestream's New Native Lesion Management Module Enables Semi-Automatic Comparisons on Vue PACS Workstation

CarestreamAt ECR 2013 Carestream will demonstrate its new lesion management module as a native oncology follow-up application that can be added for its Vue PACS. This lesion management application will be used to perform semi-automatic quantitative comparisons of historical imaging exams on a Vue PACS workstation.

Carestream's new lesion management tools (see video demo) are designed to enhance assessment of oncology patients by providing semi-automatic tracking and segmentation of lesions from modalities and other vendors' PACS systems. Each measurement generates an anatomical bookmark within the exam, which radiologists can easily navigate and diagnose.

"Volumetric data for lesions is analysed with our proven automatic registration feature that can simplify comparison between different imaging exams. By providing lesion management as an optional native PACS module, we can help boost radiologist productivity and help enhance accuracy by simplifying segmentation and analysis," said Cristine Kao, Carestream's Global Marketing Manager for Healthcare Information Solutions. "We can also help eliminate the cost of dedicated workstations for healthcare providers."

Carestream's lesion management application can also equip radiologists with the ability to generate comprehensive oncology imaging reports in accordance with industry standards such as Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST). Consistent, standardised oncology image reporting allows for clearer and more meaningful communication and collaboration between radiologists, oncologists and referring physicians.

Real-Time View of Departmental Workflow
The company will also spotlight its new Vue Beyond for Radiology that delivers a real-time view of departmental workflow to help radiology administrators improve productivity and profitability. The Vue Beyond business intelligence and reporting dashboard, which is currently available for order, shows a real-time queue of studies waiting for report, report turnaround time per radiologist and productivity levels for every member of the imaging department.

Being able to easily view these metrics can help radiology directors detect and understand any bottlenecks that exist in the departmental workflow. Vue Beyond also equips administrators with business intelligence so they can better manage personnel and equipment and improve the efficiency and accuracy of departmental reporting.

Vue Beyond tracks study volumes, modality usage, patient type and critical results notification. It can be used to manage multiple sites with a single, web-based point of access to relevant information.

Expanded Features for Universal Image Viewer
New features for Carestream's Vue Motion vendor-agnostic viewer including side-by-side display of current and prior images and the ability for clinicians to input order notes to the exam will also showcased. Vue Motion provides on demand access to images, data and reports from workstations or mobile devices like the iPad. It can be embedded in an EMR to further streamline data access. The latest version of the viewer is now available for order.
