Nij Smellinghe Hospital in Drachten, The Netherlands, has selected Hosted Information Management (HIM) service from Carestream Health to remotely archive existing and future patient data. Under a contract between the companies, which runs for five years, the HIM service will securely store an estimated 9 Terabytes of both DICOM and non-DICOM images in a central data centre, from which authorised users can archive, share and distribute patient data. Carestream Health is a major technical infrastructure provider to the EU-funded R-Bay validation project, which aims to address the uneven spread of radiologists across member states. CARESTREAM Radiology and Information Management Solutions are driving the initial test platform for the project by facilitating remote reporting of images from hospitals in Denmark, Finland and Czech Republic by clinical providers in Estonia, Lithuania and the Netherlands. Agfa HealthCare, a leading provider of IT-enabled clinical workflow and diagnostic imaging solutions, announced that it has won a contract to install its ORBIS (TM) solution at 37 hospitals France, belonging to the Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) group.
