ENEL-MED Chooses Agfa HealthCare's Solution, Computed Radiography Systems and Imagers

Agfa HealthCareAgfa HealthCare, a leading provider of diagnostic imaging and healthcare IT solutions, has been selected by ENEL-MED, a leading private healthcare provider in Poland, to install its IMPAX™ 6 Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) to serve the needs of its seven facilities and over 360 medical institution customers across over Poland. The agreement also foresees the installation of eight of the company’s Computed Radiography (CR) systems and seven DRYSTAR™ 5302 imagers.

ENEL-MED was first established in 1993 as a dental clinic, after which it transitioned into a service extension provider for general medicine when it opened its first Specialist Outpatient Clinic in Zacisze in 1998. Today ENEL-MED cooperates with over 360 medical institutions all over Poland, providing, amongst others, advanced remote radiology services. At present the organization employs 1200 staff members in its seven medical centers, including over 580 doctors, 150 nurses and 40 receptionists.

The agreement foresees the installation of Agfa HealthCare's sixth generation PACS, which will provide the diagnostic image management and communciation needs of the radiology departments within the facilities, as well as the remote diagnostic needs of multiple facilities across the country. Within the seven clinics, Agfa HealthCare will support the institution's digitization and printing needs by installing seven multi-application compact CR 30-X systems, one CR 85-X multi-user digitizer and seven desktop DRYSTAR 5302 imagers.

"We were looking for a provider of image management solutions that could provide us with a secure and scalable solution to meet our extensive needs for collaboration, as well as deliver reliable CR solutions", states Zbigniew Gniadek, Director of Diagnostic Imaging "Agfa HealthCare's innovative multi-site PACS technology and advanced CR and Imager solutions were chosen because they met these expectations. Additionally, the ability of IMPAX to easily integrate with our chosen Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Hospital Information System (HIS), and the fact that the solution was available in Polish, were amongst the primary reasons for our choice. ENEL-MED has always positioned itself at the forefront of medical science and the introduction of the new solutions will enable us to re-enforce this position."

Agfa HealthCare's multi-site solutions will enable ENEL-MED to further enhance its diagnostic imaging services across Poland, delivering more efficient Radiology services across the country as well as improving overall study access and report generation times.

"ENEL-MED is Poland's largest and most successful private healthcare provider and the selection of Agfa HealthCare's leading solutions is a clear signal that we can meet the demands of some of the world's most challenging demands", states Gyorgy Hodosi, General Manager Central and Easter Europe for Agfa HealthCare. "We look forward to an exiting and fruitful co-operation with ENEL-MED today and in the future".
