Health Level Seven® International (HL7®), the global leader in developing interoperability standards for healthcare IT, announced its decision to make much of its intellectual property (IP), including standards, freely available under licensing terms. The landmark decision represents HL7's commitment to the betterment of healthcare worldwide by ensuring that all stakeholders have equal access to its HIT standards. CSC Signs Agreement with U.K. National Health Service

CSC (NYSE: CSC) entered into an agreement with the U.K. National Health Service (NHS) on August 31, 2012 to amend the existing contract under which CSC has developed and is deploying an integrated electronic patient records system using CSC's Lorenzo Regional Care software products.

Patient Survey Reveals Significant Benefits of Telehealth Programme in Gloucestershire

NHS Gloucestershire has reported on the success of its telehealth service following a 12-month evaluation, which found that 88% of patients receiving telehealth in Gloucestershire would recommend the service to their friends and families, whilst another 85% rated the service as either excellent or good.

Erasmus MC and Philips Speed Up Research with Digital Analysis of Tumors

Erasmus MC is the first hospital in the Netherlands to switch to digital for their experimental laboratory analysis of cell and tissue samples using a digital pathology system from Philips. This switch to digital is an important step in tumor research and ultimately aims to speed up and improve the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and other diseases.

Telemonitoring Can Make Cardiac Implant Therapy More Efficient and Cost-Effective

The possibility to monitor patients and their cardiac implants such as pacemakers or defibrillators remotely has the potential to improve the efficiency of Cardiac Implant Electronic Device (CIED) therapy, and make the treatment more cost-effective. Nonetheless, to date, remote monitoring of patients is still not used widely throughout Europe.
