CSC Spearheads Growth in UK Healthcare with Two New Senior Appointments

CSCCSC (NYSE: CSC) has made two new key appointments to its UK healthcare team. Paul Shannon has been named Medical Director and will be a key interface to NHS clinicians using CSC services. Andy Hall has been appointed Sales Director and will be responsible for leading the growth of new business within CSC's UK healthcare business. These appointments are part of CSC's strategy to further strengthen its position as a leading provider of technology and business solutions in the UK and European healthcare sector.

Gerry O'Keeffe, Vice President for CSC Healthcare in the UK, comments: "These appointments will help CSC spearhead its ambitious and dynamic growth plans within UK healthcare. As a consultant anaesthetist, Paul brings deep clinical experience, continuing to ensure our solutions are developed and deployed from a clinical perspective. Andy's track record of managing and building long-term relationships across the NHS will enable him to play a central role in consolidating and strengthening our business both within the NHS National Programme for IT and the NHS generally."

Paul Shannon's responsibilities will include leading CSC's extensive clinical team, which is involved at all stages of product development and deployment. As a result, Paul will take a pivotal role in ensuring that all solutions delivered are right and appropriate to support healthcare professionals in the delivery of patient care. Additionally, to enhance CSC's collaborative approach to customers, Paul will work closely with senior healthcare decision-makers to understand their challenges and demonstrate how CSC can deliver quality assured systems.

"My key objective is to ensure we create an environment that puts the information clinicians need to do their job at their fingertips," said Paul Shannon. "I am committed to supporting the health service in its drive for high quality and equitable services for all patients and my role at CSC will allow me to make a contribution to achieving that goal. Through the innovative use of technology we can overcome problems of fragmentation in care delivery and help trusts manage costs."

Andy Hall will be responsible for consolidating and expanding CSC's position as the Local Service Provider for the National Programme for IT, in which CSC is deploying solutions to 60% of the NHS in England. Beyond the national programme Andy will also take the lead role in introducing new healthcare solutions. This is part of CSC's continued commitment to deliver solutions that enable trusts to maintain the highest standards of patient care, against a backdrop of quality performance measures and budgetary pressures.

Commenting on his appointment Andy Hall said: "Working with the healthcare team at CSC, my objective will be to develop and grow the business by demonstrating the benefits of joined-up healthcare and how it can be achieved through the deployment of CSC solutions. We will also build upon CSC’s uniquely strong delivery record and partnerships with healthcare clients to further empower front-line staff and drive service improvements."

Paul Shannon qualified in medicine in 1987, becoming a consultant anaesthetist in 1998 at Doncaster Royal Infirmary (DRI). He has held several clinical and managerial positions and gained a MBA in 2003. Paul has operated in national clinical leadership roles at NHS Connecting for Health, the Department of Health, and the independent sector. He continues to practise part-time for the NHS at DRI.

Andy Hall joins CSC after five years with Fujitsu Services in various sales and operational roles. Most notably, he was the Healthcare Business Development Director and the Business Unit Director for their Royal Mail account. Prior to this Andy spent five years with two start-up software companies in the health-care sector, including his position as Sales and Marketing Director at Newchurch (now part of the Tribal Group). Before this Andy held a number of management roles during thirteen years with Xerox.
