UKCloud Health selected by NHS Shared Business Services to Provide Multi-Cloud Services on its New Cloud Solutions Framework

UKCloud HealthUKCloud Health, the multi-cloud experts dedicated to powering the Healthcare community, has today announced that it has been awarded a place on all 4 lots of the new NHS Shared Business Services Cloud Solutions framework which runs for initial 2-year term with the option to extend to 2023.

The new NHS Shared Business Services Cloud Solutions framework is fantastic news for the NHS, Local Authorities, the police and educational establishments as it gives buyers easy access to quality cloud services and solutions that are OJEU compliant. Buyers have the option of using either the direct award or mini-competition process, depending on their requirement, giving them the benefit of the agility and efficiency that cloud is renowned for, and enabling rapid and efficient solution deployment.

UKCloud Health was selected as one of the 20 suppliers for Lots 1 and 3, and one of only 10 suppliers for Lots 2 and 4 thus demonstrating its full capability for all aspects of cloud services from assessment to migration and also from implementation to optimisation. UKCloud Health’s multi-cloud platforms, private cloud and public cloud options offer a unique solution to help organisations on their journey, gaining cost-advantages and agility through every step of the process. UKCloud Health is an established cloud supplier to the NHS and wider healthcare market with hundreds of NHS organisations accessing clinical cloud applications over HSCN every day.

The complex IT landscape of the NHS provides many challenges when it comes to cloud adoption. Moving to the cloud is complex with legacy infrastructure and applications that are not fit for cloud. Whilst it is recognised that cloud computing has the potential to enhance collaboration, increase efficiency and improve security across the NHS, progress in migrating workloads to the cloud varies dramatically between different Trusts and other bodies. Given that not all organisations are in the same place on their cloud journey, this new framework works to cover all aspects, from design and consultancy to implementation and managed service. It is both for organisations who know what they want and are already on their cloud journey, to those who may need more help and guidance and who need to benefit from the knowledge and services of the pre-selected cloud experts.

Phil Davies, Procurement Director at NHS SBS, said: "In what is an incredibly crowded and complex market our aim was to significantly simplify the procurement process for the NHS and wider public sector. To ensure framework users have access to the very best cloud services at the most competitive price, we carried out a rigorous tender process and limited the number of suppliers on the framework to the 10 or 20 most outstanding in each Lot. The result is a specialist pool of 24 leading suppliers, which provide the greatest expertise and value-for-money to the public sector. The framework is structured in a way that includes a full range of cloud support services. It means that regardless of where a public body is on its journey into the cloud, or how straightforward or complex its requirements, purchasing the right support is simple, cost-effective and OJEU-compliant."

The framework’s four-lot design aims to provide these authorities with access to support and services for every step of their journey to the cloud. This framework brings together quality cloud solutions (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS) backed by bespoke services (design, consultancy, support) that address the capability and capacity issues that impede digital transformation. This array of choice allows any organisation to procure exactly what they need - from those who want to pick-and-choose their requirements against a current strategy to a ‘one-stop-shop’ for those who need more help and guidance. All these choices are available at a low-cost, as the framework is pre-competed and OJEU compliant, but can still be tailored to suit bespoke needs.

"UKCloud Health is at the forefront of providing a secure and resilient, but easy to use cloud platform that supports public sector digital transformation and enables the optimisation of patient-oriented healthcare. This experience and knowledge, coupled with expert services, has enabled hundreds of public sector organisations in the UK to deliver more scalable and cost-effective public healthcare services - both directly and via our ecosystem of health partners. The NHS Shared Business Services Cloud Solutions framework is a very welcome addition to our portfolio," said Cleveland Henry, Director of Cloud for UKCloud Health.

UKCloud Health is uniquely aligned to these needs as a sovereign, secure cloud services provider, known for its capacity to help health and care organisations to modernise their IT environment and transform their IT operations, its unique location within Crown Campus and partnership. UKCloud Health is the platform of choice for 80+ software providers including Mayden IAPTus and IMMJ Systems MediViewer; and it has proven experience helping 300+ public sector organisations to transition to cloud including Genomics England, East London NHS Trust and The Health Foundation.
