Vodafone Romania Provisions 100 Ambulances with Video-Based Telemedicine Solution

VodafoneThe new roll-out marks the continuation of a partnership between Vodafone and SMURD (Mobile Emergency Service for Resuscitation and Extrication) which began seven years ago when Vodafone developed the first European telemedicine solution with national coverage.

The solution enabled paramedics to transmit medical parameters to hospital' A&E departments ahead of arrival, enabling more timely and case-effective care.

This year, Vodafone and SMURD are building upon the success of the solution, by enabling paramedics to transmit video images of patients alongside the medical parameters. The solution is leveraging Vodafone's high speed mobile data services across the country and is installed on 100 ambulances across 73 cities and 26 counties in Romania.

The video below was created to mark the continuation of this important partnership, and shows the impact the solution has on individual patients and their close ones.
